Slow Cooker Boneless Country Rib Sandwiches

June 15, 2015 by Meemaw Leave a Comment

I don’t know about you…but the the cost of meat is making me look for meals that don’t break the bank.

Now, I love a good steak as much as the next cook, but I have found a really yummy cut of meat that makes delicious sandwiches…and still leaves some green in your wallet.

Pick up some Boneless Country Ribs (either beef or pork)…and drag out that slow cooker.

And the first rule with a slow cooker?

BROWN THAT MEAT FIRST!!!

REALLY brown it!  (As Chef Carla Hall says on The Chew “There is FLAVOR in the BROWN!”) And don’t crowd the pan, or the meat will STEAM instead of BROWN…

Don’t waste the browned bits and drippings left in the bottom of the pan…It’s called fond…

Simply swirl some kind of liquid (wine, broth or even water will do) in the pan and pour it all into the slow cooker with the browned meat…

And to that browned meat, add one chopped onion and 4-5 cloves of garlic.  Also add some Liquid Smoke and some Worcestershire Sauce. And add some sweet yellow or red or green peppers if that floats your boat.  After all…recipes are just the starting point for me!  It’s YOUR dish now…

Now…put on the lid…and like the man says…”Just set it…AND FORGET IT!”

And in a few hours you will have falling-off-the-bones (if they HAD bones) pieces of meat you can shred into delectable fixin’s for sandwiches.

An inexpensive and delicious meal that’s ready when you are!
