Pangogh Bakery – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

January 31, 2014 by Meemaw Leave a Comment

Imagine how wonderful it would be to be able to WALK to a tiny Italian bakery.  But I don’t have to imagine it…I can do it!

All last Winter we saw an “Opening Soon” sign in the window of this little shop, only ONE BLOCK from our condo.  It never opened.  But when we returned this year I saw a Grand Opening sign. So today I walked over to check it out…and I’m SO GLAD I did!

It’s Called Pangogh (Pronounced Pan-Go)

When I asked Ronnie, the helpful young man behind the counter how to pronounce the bakery’s name, he explained that PAN means BREAD in Italian…and the rest of the name is in honor of Van Gogh.  So the name means Artisan of Bread.  Now it all makes sense!

A Wonderful Staff To Greet You…
This CHARMING little bakery smells divine…and with good reason.  They bake EVERYTHING FRESH EVERY DAY.  From Cookies to Croissants to Ciabatta, Baguettes, and Focaccia…it’s ALL fresh.  And they use those fresh baked goods to build awesome sandwiches, using ingredients like Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, roasted eggplants and  peppers…and fresh basil.  And they use ALL KINDS of fresh veggies too.  (They are singing MY song!)  Whether served cold, or as a Panini, their sandwiches look AMAZING.  (I’ll be checking them out later, for sure.)  Who could resist sandwiches with names like Piombino, Sofia, Parisian and Verona…and who would WANT to??!   And their salads use only fresh ingredients, like crisp Romaine, and shaved Parmesan cheese.

A GREAT place to meet…AND EAT!

They also serve breakfast…all day.  From hot oatmeal with fresh fruit, to various Quiches, to a butter croissant with Ham, Organic Egg and Cheese sandwich.  And an old Italian standby…Egg in a Nest.

After I took these pictures for my blog, Ronnie gave me some almond cookies to bring home.

I shared one with my Italian neighbor, Joyce, and she was so impressed she walked over and bought a Panini for lunch…She chose the Sofia…and she gave me a bite.

PREGO!

It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.  PERIOD. END OF STORY. GO THERE.
