Lisciandro’s Breakfast & Lunch – Jamestown, New York

September 20, 2021 by Meemaw 3 Comments

Lisciandro’s. A Jamestown landmark since 1954. That’s MY kind of eatery!

Heck, I was only four years old when that iconic restaurant first opened it’s doors!

What a time capsule.

Our motherly server greeted us with a wave and a smile, and she told us to sit wherever we liked. We chose the front table by the window since it was the most socially distanced spot in the diner. Indeed it was also the best spot for people watching.

The menu at Lisciandro’s was typical diner fare. Exactly what we were looking for on that beautiful sunny morning in New York.

Lisciandro's steaming coffee served in perfect old cups.

But when our coffee arrived in those old fashioned cups I KNEW we had picked the best spot in Jamestown for a throwback breakfast.

Lisciandro’s Breakfast…Let’s EAT!

Now…about that breakfast? I’m sure it was cooked by a little old Grandma who threw in an extra ladle of love and some extra strips of crispy bacon just for good measure!!

Let’s EAT!!!

Speaking of good measure…those oven roasted spuds were some of the best restaurant breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had! They were crispy without a hint of grease.  Seasoned to perfection.  (Of course I know my way around a roasted potato too. Want proof? Click HERE!!)

Indeed the good service matched the great food. In fact it was hard to tear ourselves away from the third cup of coffee but we had received a great tip about a Jamestown spot we just couldn’t pass up.  Now I bet you wonder where we heard about this “can’t miss” attraction?

Why, in a BAR of course! The BEST place to get local information…of many kinds!

You see, the previous night we took a stroll from little Mom and Pop motel where we stayed on the edge of town.  And we ended up here…

A super friendly Jamestown local named Wendy was quick to give us the “lay of the land.”

Even though I still resist sitting inside (thanks to Covid fears) we sat a table away from Wendy and her hubby and still found a way to visit, even though our voices sounded more like shouting than talking.

Wendy was quick to tell us what Jamestown is famous for. Or should I say WHO Jamestown is famous for. You see…Lucille Ball was born in Jamestown. So let that previously unknown fact be the clue to where we were headed after our awesome Lisciandro’s breakfast!

[…] We couldn’t head to a museum on an empty stomach, so we first stopped for breakfast in a cute little diner that looked as if it came straight out of a 1950s I Love Lucy episode. Check it out HERE. […]
