Let The Packing Begin! These Snowbirds Are Itching To Head NORTH!

Let the packing begin!

In some ways it’s hard to believe another winter has passed, but in other ways it seems like FOREVER since we’ve hugged our grandkids! So for that reason we’re more than ready to pack up our belongings and button up our condo for another year.

And thanks to the generous gift from one of our neighbors we’ll have a little less to worry about during this upcoming hurricane season.

Our neighbor has installed new hurricane protected windows so she had no use for her old shutters. And we are MORE than happy to have them! Our old jalousie windows are absolutely fantastic for letting in the cool ocean breeze. (The new, modern hurricane windows only slide open and provide much less ventilation, so we hope to keep our old style windows forever!) So Peepaw made sure the shutters fit perfectly before we leave. And our great neighbors who live there year round will put them up if Mother Nature goes on a rampage again this summer, but we certainly hope that doesn’t happen!

It’s a lot of work to close up a home like this. Oh, I know, we’re very lucky to have this “problem.” But we have to start packing and cleaning a week in advance to make sure everything gets done.

So my blog posts may be somewhat sporadic for the next week or so as we get on the road early next week. But I hope you’ll follow along on my Meemaw Eats Facebook page and my Instagram and Twitter too! I’ll still be posting updates of our road trip adventures every day!

Yes, I’m anxious to leave, but I treasure our little slice of Paradise here in Florida. 

And these sunsets will stay with me forever.
