Try My Smoked Salmon “Martini” – A Beautiful Presentation

February 27, 2020 by Meemaw 2 Comments

I am willing to bet you’ve never eaten a martini.  But I’m here to tell you it’s time for you to give this show-stopping appetizer a try.

This is one martini you eat with a spoon

While growing up I couldn’t begin to count the number of times Mom said “Patty Ann, we eat with our eyes first!”

Mom’s lesson is one I’ve never forgotten. So as I was researching ingredients and appetizers to serve at our ten course Italian dinner I stumbled across this amazing combination of tastes and textures. By layering the ingredients in a martini glass it immediately elevated the appetizer to the next level of sophistication. (I think Mom would have approved.)

The “recipe” is as simple as it can be. But your dinner party guests will certainly be impressed. It’s up to you whether you want to admit it only took five minutes to put together. As far as I’m concerned, that can be our little secret. Just remember to serve THIS martini with a SPOON!

Smoked Salmon Martini

Course Appetizer

Ingredients

  • Smoked Salmon
  • Ripe Avocado
  • Fresh Mozzarella
  • Fresh Ground Black Pepper
  • Balsamic Glaze

Instructions

  1. Dice the Smoked Salmon, the Avocado and the Mozzarella Cheese into small cubes of equal size. Then begin the layering process into each martini glass. Remember to top EACH ingredient with a little Fresh Cracked Black Pepper. Start with a layer of diced Smoked Salmon. Top of fresh ground Black Pepper. Next add a layer of diced Avocado. Add more Pepper. Next a layer of Diced Mozzarella. Top with another grind of Black Pepper. Then drizzle with Balsamic Glaze. That's it. Done. Enjoy!!!

Thanks for your question Dawn! I didn’t dice the avocado until right before service, but if you needed to make them earlier you could spritz with avocado with fresh lemon juice. (I just didn’t want the avocado to be wet or mushy in the glass.) I hope that helps!
